Tipoff: 7 p.m. Friday, Save Mart Center, Fresno, Calif.
Records: Washington State 3-0 overall, 0-0 Pac-10 Conference; Fresno State 1-2 overall, 0-0 Western Athletic Conference
Players: Washington State features the PAC-10’s two leading scorers in guards Klay Thompson (24.3 ppg) and Faisal Aden (21.7 pp). Fresno State, which averages only 61 points a contest, doesn’t boast a player double figures but is led by sophomore post Greg Smith (8.7 ppg, 6.7 ppg). Tyler Johnson is adding 8.0 points, while Bennie Rhodes is adding 7.7.
Game themes: Washington State’s first true road game of the season comes against a club that’s had some offensive woes. Fresno State, which fell hard to BYU (83-56) and lost to UC-Santa Barbara, has just one win over NAIA Vanguard. The Bulldogs feature seven players that average over seven points but nobody over 8.7. Fresno is shooting an abysmal 17.4 percent from three-point range while averaging 18 turnovers…
WSU guard Reggie Moore is out for the fourth straight game with a wrist injury….Junior Mike Ladd, who was one of Fresno State’s top gunners last year, is redshirting for Washington State this season under NCAA transfer rules.
Moore almost a Bulldog: Moore signed with Fresno State as a senior at Rainier Beach in November of 2007, but changed his mind. The NCAA wouldn’t give him a release to play for another program, so he spent a season at New England prep school before enrolling at WSU in 2009.
