Around the Pac-10: Montana clips UCLA

Three days after falling by a point to No. 4 Kansas in the wake of a controversial last-second call, UCLA took three steps backward against a Montana team that was coming off a four-point loss to Portland.  Here is the Missoulian’s game story of UCLA’s 66-57 loss to Montana in Los Angeles.

I know it’s early December, but half of the Pac-10 is already showing why it still isn’t the conference of old.

  • Oregon State (3-4) has fallen to Utah Valley State, Texas Southern and second-year NCAA I program Seattle University.
  • Oregon (5-3) lost a home game to a San Jase State club picked to finish 5th in a top-heavy WAC.
  • USC (5-4) has lost to Rider, Bradley, Big 12 cellar dweller Nebraska and mediocre Mountain West program Texas Christian.  The Trojans did knock off No. 20 Texas 73-56 on Sunday, though.
  • Stanford (4-2) lost 65-53 at home to Tulsa and fell at Murray State (4-4), a club that reached the NCAA Tournament  a year ago but isn’t nearly as good.
