Slow-starting Gonzaga visits Pullman

PULLMAN – Some consider it an aberrant circumstance as a product of an even brawnier-than-usual slate.

 Other Gonzaga basketball boosters – even the pragmatic ones – are pointing to a spectrum of issues, like youth, lowly defense and ill-advised rotations as the cause of the Bulldogs’ atypical start.

It’s the sort of nitpicking that surfaces when the results on the court aren’t congruent with lofty expectations.

 Whatever has played into Gonzaga’s 4-3 start, Washington State coach Ken Bone isn’t giving the varying hypotheses much credence.

When the Bulldogs visit Beasley Coliseum tonight at 8 to face the Cougars in the annual regional rivalry, he’s expecting the club that held a No. 12 ranking a month ago to step on Friel Court.
