Pac-12 opener in Spokane Arena: The Cougars announced Thursday that they will play their first Pac-12 games next season at the Spokane Arena against the Oregon schools. WSU will play the Ducks on Dec. 29, 2011, and the Beavers two days later. “It is vital to the growth of Cougar athletics that we engage in the Spokane community and taking a conference basketball weekend to Spokane gives more fans the opportunity to see their team in person,” WSU athletic director Bill Moos said . “With students away from Pullman during the holiday break, it’s a great time to highlight Cougar basketball at one of the premier venues in the Pacific Northwest.”
