WSU lead vanishes after halftime as Cougs fall to UCLA in Pac-10 opener
LOS ANGELES – During a span of seven minutes Washington State looked like a club worthy of its nonconference record and the cautious hyperbole attached to it.
Unfortunately for the Cougars, their second-half output also bore a resemblance – to last season’s inability to finish in Pac-10 play and its longtime futility against UCLA, anyway.
The Cougars took an eight-point halftime lead after going on a 13-0 run Wednesday night, but the Bruins surged back in the second half to win 80-71 in the conference opener for both schools.
