Thompson makes Wooden Award midseason cut

Washington State junior guard Klay Thompson is among the 30 players on the John R. Wooden Award’s mid-season candidate list.

The 6-foot-6 Thompson leads the Pac-10 in scoring and ranks 10th in he country at 22.2 points per game and is also fourth in the league in assists (4.0 apg). Earlier this season, Thompson became the first Cougar to make the preseason list since Derrick Low and Kyle were both named to the preseason top-50 prior to the 2007-08 season. He is the first to move on to the midseason top-30 since Low went on to make the midseason cut that year.

Thompson, who named a Wooden Award nominee last seasn,  is one of three Pac-10 players who made the cut  including Washington guard Isaiah Thomas and Arizona guard Derrick Williams are also included in the 30.
