Cougars dispatch Oklahoma State; Northwestern on deck

WSU takes apart Cowboys, will play host Wildcats in quarterfinals

PULLMAN – Washington State is making the most of its consolation of a postseason.

And, now, the road to Madison Square Garden will go through Pullman.

The Cougars’ 74-64 win over Oklahoma State in the second round of the National Invitation Tournament on Monday night at Beasley Coliseum puts WSU a win away from the NIT Final Four in New York City.

With Northwestern’s upset of top-seeded Boston College on Saturday, the second-seeded Cougs will play host to the Wildcats on Wednesday night in the quarterfinals. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m.

“It’s great to have one more home game,” WSU coach Ken Bone said. “Playing at Beasley is something they want to do.

“Class is something they don’t want to miss, so this is perfect.”
