Shelton, a 6-foot-9 forward, will help fill Casto’s void
D.J. Shelton, a 6-foot-9, 220-pound forward from Citrus College, rounds out Washington State’s 2010-2011 recruiting class.
Shelton redshirted at Cal State Fullerton before playing at Citrus, a junior college in southern California. He averaged 12 points and 6.7 rebounds and led the team in blocked shots (1.6 a game).
Shelton will be a redshirt sophomore at WSU.
“(Shelton) will be a nice addition to our front court,” WSU coach Ken Bone said. “With the departure of DeAngelo Casto, we really wanted to add some height and athleticism and D.J. gives us both of those ingredients. It’s also good to know that he’ll have three years of eligibility remaining.”
Shelton is the third signee, joining prep stars stars DaVonte Lacy (Tacoma), a 6-4 guard, and 6-foot-8 forward Greg Sequele (Los Angeles), who both signed in the fall.
